Hello and welcome to the first ever Mum Volition post!
I've wanted to start a blog for a while now. The list of post ideas was growing longer and longer in the notes section of my phone and I felt overwhelmed before I'd even begun (lesson #1 of parenting!).
My husband said to me two days ago "you just need to start somewhere" and I realised then that my stumbling block was what to call said blog.
So why is 'Mum Volition' the title?
Volition is the faculty or power of using one's will. As humans we act according to volition, both consciously and unconsciously.
Volition is not a state of mind, it's a state of being. It changes and it evolves.
Available to us we have choices, we have options. Volition is the selection of them.
As a society we seem to give a lot of attention to the consequences of our choices. I call for us to give more attention to the processes we go through before we make choices.
Mum Volition is about recognising that the decisions we make each and everyday directly impact not only our own lives, but the lives of our children.
Mum Volition is about intentional parenting. It's about owning the decisions we make.
Let's explore our volition together.
This blog is a safe space. It's an encouraging space. It's a community space. Please don't make it otherwise.
I'm married to Sam and I'm a mother to Henry.
